Tour Itinerary
Day 01: Auckland
Welcome to Auckland!! Auckland is New Zealand's largest city and main transport hub. The region is home to some 1.5 million people and is also the largest Polynesian city in the world. Auckland’s diverse landscapes provide countless opportunities to get immersed in nature. More than just a city, Auckland is a whole region full of things to see and do. Best of all, with so many experiences close by it’s easy to hop from one adventure to the next. On arrival in Auckland, you will collect a rental car and drive at Hotel.
Day 02: Rotorua
After breakfast, Travel south, past rolling green hills and lush pastures to Waitomo. Here a subterranean wonderland lies underneath with a labyrinth of caves decorated with wonderful limestone formations and galaxies of glow worms. We Visit Waitomo Glowworm Caves, which has Millions of years in the making, your guide brings Waitomo Cave to life with stories of its history, features and legends on a 45 minute tour. View stunning delicate cave formations and enjoy a magical boat ride through the grotto under thousands of twinkling glowworms. Next we proceed to Matamata to do guided tour of Hobbiton Movie Set. Fall in love with the Alexander family sheep farm, just as acclaimed director Sir Peter Jackson did, as you journey through the unequivocal beauty of the land, with the mighty Kaimai Ranges towering in the distance. Your guide will then escort you around the set, showing the intricate detailing, pointing out the most famous locations and explaining how the movie magic was made. After your tour, travel along the Thermal Explorer Highway and through Fitzgerald Glade, a green oasis lined with lush tree ferns and towering native vegetation. Once you arrive at Rotorua, you know you are somewhere like nowhere else. There is a scent of sulphur in the air and steam drifts from cracks and crevices.
Day 03: Rotorua
Situated in Rotorua, Te Puia is an iconic destination for visitors. Our tradition of guiding in the Whakarewarewa geothermal valley extends for generations and many of our guides have direct links to Rotorua’s earliest hosts. We share stories and insight into this unique corner of the world. Along with access to the world famous Pohutu geyser, visitors have an opportunity to see Māori cultural performances, live kiwi, boiling mud pools, native bush and the National Schools of Wood Carving and Weaving. These are the threads that form the fabric of Te Puia, fitting its role as kaitiaki (guardian) of Māori culture for future generations. Later we Visit The Agrodome, In the heart of 350-acres of lush farmland, yet only 10 minutes from Rotorua city centre, you’ll find New Zealand’s Agrodome. For over 40 years, visitors from all over the globe have come to the Agrodome to see our world-famous Farm Show starring a cast of talented animals… and you! Rainbow Springs Nature Park is situated amongst flourishing native forest and natural springs, you’ll see and learn all about New Zealand’s wonderful wildlife, our ecological history and our cultural stories.
Day 04: Queenstown
After breakfast, we drive to Rotorua Airport for our flight to Queenstown. Queenstown sits on the shore of crystal clear Lake Wakatipu among dramatic alpine ranges; it’s rumoured that gold prospectors - captivated by the majestic beauty of the surrounding mountains and rivers - gave this now cosmopolitan town its name. Queenstown is the home of the ultimate adventure bucket list. There’s skiing in the winter and activities such as bungy jumping, sky diving, canyon swinging, jet boating, horse trekking and river rafting all year round. It has also become a renowned cycling destination, providing everything from easy scenic tracks to backcountry trails, road rides to heli-biking and the Southern Hemisphere’s only gondola accessed downhill mountain biking. On arrival in Queenstown, we head to our hotel & relax after Check-In.
Day 05: Queenstown
Deep within Fiordland National Park lies Milford Sound, New Zealand’s most stunning natural attraction. With its magical combination of mountain peaks, ink-dark waters and superb dramatic forest-clad cliffs, it must be seen to be believed. Milford Sound is located approximately 287 Km from Queenstown. It takes approximately four hours to drive from Queenstown to Milford Sound. Te Anau is approximately 2 Hours away from Queenstown, and forms part of the route. You will pass by some of the beautiful panoramic vistas such as Te Anau Downs, Mirror Lakes, Knobs Flat, Lake Fergus, Homer Tunnel & many more. On arrival at Milford Sound we take excursion to Milford Sound Cruises, The best thing about Milford Sound Cruises is that the weather doesn’t matter! On a sunny day, it is beautiful and on a wet day it is spectacular! Fiordland has some of the world’s highest waterfalls and they are a popular feature of Milford Sound. In all weather, you will see water cascading down massive cliffs into the sea. Milford Sound is in the Fiordland National Park, which is part of the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site which covers 26,000km² and encompassing four national parks. It is widely considered to be one of the World’s top travel destinations.
Day 06: Queenstown
There’s no place like Queenstown and one of the best ways to experience it all is from the lake. Soak up the remarkable mountain views on a relaxing scenic cruise aboard Spirit of Queenstown Cruise. Discover Lake Wakatipu’s hidden gem – Mt Nicholas, before joining for an 1 hour of power on Lake Wakatipu and the world famous Shotover and Kawarau Rivers. On your Jet boat trip, you’ll get up to speeds of 95kph on the mighty Shotover and Kawarau Rivers, in water that’s less than 5cm deep in some places. Later we cruise across spectacular Lake Wakatipu to isolated Mt Nicholas High Country Farm on Spirit of Queenstown.
Day 07: Glacier Region
From Queenstown, you can easily reach the West Coast and its famous glaciers. The most accessible landmarks in South Island glacier country are Fox Glacier and Franz Josef Glacier, which flow almost to sea level. You can drive from Queenstown to Fox Glacier in half a day. You might, however, like to stop in Wanaka on the way. The shortest route is over the Crown Range Road, a challenging road that demands full attention, but with great views. Alternatively you can take the easier way along SH6 following the Shotover River and Lake Dunstan. In Wanaka you can enjoy the cafes and restaurants or get out into the outdoors – skiing and snowboarding, boating and fishing, hiking and climbing. From here, you’ll drive between Lake Hawea and Lake Wanaka, through dramatic Mt Aspiring National Park and emerge onto the West Coast at Haast, where you can fuel up. Just north of Haast lies Lake Moeraki, a plentiful fishing spot and a short walk from a penguin colony. At Lake Paringa there’s a salmon farm. Continue along SH6 until you reach Fox Glacier. The terminal face of the glacier is just a few kilometres from the township and you can walk the valley path from the carpark to the glacier. For our self-drive guests, entry to the Glacier Hot Pools (Franz Josef) is included.
Day 08: Christchurch
Today you have option to enjoy a Scenic Helicopter Ride & Snow Landing on One Glacier (at additional cost) OR After breakfast we drive from Glacier Region to Christchurch. Arrive at Christchurch and check in at your hotel in Christchurch.
Day 09: Christchurch
Departure to Christchurch Airport for flight to your onward Destination. We hope you enjoyed your stay in New Zealand.
